Core Beliefs

About God the Father:

God the Father is the Creator of all things. He eternally exists in three personalities known as the God-Head consisting of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. There has never been a time when God did not exist.

Jesus Christ:

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and is co-equal with God the Father. We believe in His virgin birth, and that He was fully God, and fully human. Jesus lived a life of sinless perfection and offered His life as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin. He rose on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death, He ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven where He now intercedes for all who call on His name and will physically return to earth as Lord of Lord’s and King of kings.

Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the God-head and is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He proceeds from the Father and the Son and makes people aware of their need of forgiveness and draws them to Jesus. He comes and lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He is actively responsible for the believer’s regeneration and sanctification as He empowers them to live as God has called them to live. We believe in the secondary infilling of the Holy Spirit known as the baptism of the Spirit, which is for all believers. This enables believers to participate more fully in the ministry of the church, its worship, its outreach and in service.

The Bible:

We believe the Bible to be God’s word to mankind given to us through human authors whilst being supernaturally guided by the Holy Spirit. It is therefore, without error and is the supreme source of truth and the final authority in all matters of faith and Christian living.

God created people in His image to be like Him in character and to enjoy a relationship with Him. Since the fall of mankind this relationship has been broken by the universal problem of ‘sin’. This results in humanity living in rebellion to God and His laws and under God’s judgement and condemnation.

Salvation cannot be earned or worked out, but is a free gift given by God upon the acceptance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. By believing in and accepting God’s offer of pardon from sins punishment through Jesus Christ we are saved and enter into a loving relationship with God our creator. Upon acceptance of Jesus as Saviour we also receive eternal life.

We believe that Jesus set an example for us to follow when He was baptised. We believe that upon confession of faith believers should be baptised by immersion in water symbolising the death of their old way of life and the coming of new life lived through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that people were created with a spirit and are therefore created to exist forever. Upon departing from this life we either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross. To be eternally separated from God is to exist in hell. To be in eternal relationship with God is to enter into eternal life in heaven. Heaven and hell are real places that exist eternally.
